Here in USD we are committed to constantly elevating our Nutrition Program and we’ve been busy turning student feedback into action! Here is a look at what’s new over the past few months:
A Fresh New Look: After hearing from our students that our cafeteria atmosphere could use a refresh we spent Thanksgiving break installing new graphics and signage across all campuses. These upgrades align with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) creating a more welcoming environment.
Empowering Student Leaders: In December, we celebrated our elementary Food Ambassadors Program. This program goes beyond helping the kitchen run smoothly and provides students with hands-on experience in leadership and customer service. It’s a wonderful way for students to take ownership of their cafeterias and build real-world skills.
Student-Driven Menus: From identifying the "mystery Ingredient" in our elementary Discovery Kitchens to middle schoolers taste-testing new items like cooked sushi and giving us feedback on which ones we should serve, student voice continues to drive our menu and recipes.
Celebrating Culture: Our menu continues to grow with more global flavors! Last week, our middle school students enjoyed Vietnamese Beef Pho celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our community.
We invite all students to participate in our nutrition program and take advantage of our complimentary brunch and lunch offerings. Check out what’s cooking this month here.
