Union School District Celebrates Grand Opening of New Dartmouth Middle School Track and Athletic Field

October 12, 2026

SAN JOSE, CA — Superintendent Dr. Carrie Andrews welcomed members of our Union School District community for the grand opening of the Dartmouth Middle School (DMS) track and athletic field, and thanked the Governing Board of Trustees for prioritizing this amazing project for our students. Dr. Andrews also thanked the Citizen Bond Oversight Committee members, district staff, retired and current DMS faculty, students, families, the project architect, construction contractors, and construction management representatives who gathered for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the brand-new DMS Track and Athletic Field.

The modern athletic complex provides DMS students and the surrounding community with a state-of-the-art facility designed to promote physical fitness, athletic competition, community, and student wellness. Local voters and the broader Union School District community made the project possible through the generous support of Measures J and R, combined with vital investments from the land redevelopment exchange proceeds and USD special reserve funds. Together, through these investments, we were able to revitalize over 13.6 acres, equivalent to 10 football fields, to deliver this phenomenal space our students truly deserve.

The new Dartmouth track and field represents a major milestone in the ongoing Bond projects list throughout the district. Beyond the newly opened track and field, other improvements are moving rapidly toward completion, with work underway on four brand-new baseball fields slated to open at Dartmouth in February 2027. Through our extraordinary teamwork, the new track and field will benefit Dartmouth students and our community for many years to come. Thank you USD for your support!
