New this year, Union School District has added music courses into its curriculum for students in grades 4 and 5. This exciting initiative aims to provide young learners with the opportunity to explore and develop their musical talents and creativity.
In the fourth grade, students will embark on a musical journey that introduces them to the fundamentals of music, including rhythm, melody, and harmony. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, they will learn about different musical instruments and their roles in creating beautiful melodies. Fourth graders will also be exposed to various music genres, fostering an appreciation for diverse musical styles.
Fifth-grade students will take their musical education to the next level by participating in Band or Choir/Rhythm. They will learn how to read music and develop their singing and playing skills. Fifth graders will also have the opportunity to collaborate as they prepare for concerts thereby encouraging teamwork and creativity.
To facilitate this program, Union School District has partnered with experienced music educators. These teaching experts will work closely with students, providing guidance and instruction to help them reach their full musical potential. The district has also invested in high-quality musical instruments and equipment to create a conducive learning environment for music courses.
Ms. Emma Greig and Mr. David Johnson are excited to start with students in September and will be communicating with 4th/5th grade families.
