Congratulations to Jenny Torres who was named as SCCOE Classified School Employee of the Year in the Technical Services

Union School District is proud to announce that the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) has named USD Support Specialist, Jenny Torres, as the Santa Clara County Classified School Employee of the Year in the Technical services category. This award recognizes her significant contributions to our schools and her unwavering commitment to student equity.

For Jenny, technology is about more than hardware. It is a bridge to communication and learning. Her work is rooted in a "whole-community" approach. Beyond her technical role, Jenny has been a leader in USD for many years, having served as a Home and School Club President and continuing to support employees as a dedicated leader within her labor union CSEA.

"I am honored by this recognition," says Torres, "but I know that technology doesn't run a school district—people do. Every staff member contributes to a successful learning experience, and I am incredibly proud to stand among them."

Jenny’s nomination will now advance to the state level for consideration in California’s Classified School Employee of the Year (CSEY) Program. The Classified School Employee of the Year program honors the contributions of non-teaching school staff who support California’s more than six million public school students. These employees, ranging from campus supervisors and paraprofessionals to transportation, food service, and technical staff, are essential to creating safe, supportive, and effective learning environments.

Please join us in congratulating Jenny on this prestigious and well-deserved honor! She will be formally recognized at an upcoming Santa Clara County Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, June 3.
